On Australia Day the City of Kingston named Marion Harriden 2011 Citizen of the Year as part of the Australia Day Awards

Everyone at Dingley Village Community Advice Bureau was excited when the news broke that Marion was receiving the award. We all believe of course that the award is well deserved. For over 25 years Marion has been our dedicated Social Worker and day-to-day Manager of the Bureau. In 1991 she received an Order of Australia Medal in recognition of her commitment to the community.

Over the years Marion has made a huge contribution to the well-being of the people of Dingley Village. Since the early 1980s she has continually endeavored through various surveys and other means, to find the needs in the community. She has initiated programs and services to meet those needs either through the Dingley Village C.A.B. or the Neighbourhood Centre. Counseling Services and Educational Programs that started in 1980s are still running to this day. There have been many highlights during her career and one in particular was the opening of Abbeyfield House 1996 in Spring Road Dingley Village.
Our Committee of Management, Staff and Volunteers congratulate Marion on receiving this award and we are proud that one of our people has been recognised.
